Trauma and Abuse

If you have experienced trauma or abuse, you will find in working with me that you experience a place of safety, non-judgement and acceptance of whatever you wish to talk about. Your safety will always take priority, and we will work at whatever pace is appropriate for you. In time you will become able to talk about things that once seemed unmentionable, and will be able to heal wounds that may be months, years, or decades old.

Trauma and abuse can scar us. Like physical scars, the signs that something happened never fully disappear; and like physical scars, the pain and distress can pass leaving us healthy and able to move on with our lives.

I have worked with clients around issues of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, post-traumatic stress arising from accidents or abuse, and trauma experienced during childhood and adolescence.

"Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone." - Fred Rogers
